Tyler VANKILL

BJJ Brown Belt | Judo Brown Belt , Kingdom MMA & Fitness

“It doesn’t matter how fast you can do it. It matters how effectively you can do it”.

Tyler has been training Jiu-Jitsu for 12 years under his professor Baret Yoshida. Tyler is also a professional MMA fighter and is currently ranked 30 in the Canadian Pro Welterweights. But don’t let that distract you from his awesome Jiu-Jitsu. He is a bestseller of BJJ Fanatics and Bronze Medalist in No-Gi Worlds.

Tyler’s approach to Jiu-Jitsu is simple. Tyler believes that how you do anything is how you do everything. It doesn't matter how fast you can do it, what matters is how fast you can do it effectively. The coolest looking house will fall down with a poor foundation. He believes that with the right foundation of fundamental techniques you can be dangerous in both offense and defense and can flourish in the True Flow of Jiujitsu. Bad positions will happen, but with the right mindset and developed skills you can be just as dangerous as when you're "winning".

  • Turn bottom side control into a powerful position of attack where you can launch a wide variety of offense including buggy chokes, reverse triangles, Darce chokes, sweeps, and MORE!

  • Develop an attack based mindset with Tyler’s clear-cut system of attack from bottom side guard.

  • Learn to establish strong and effective frames that not only keep the pressure off of you but open up opportunities for attack.

  • Force opponents to be overly defensive and open up an amplitude of sweeping options from the bottom

  • It's simple, explained well and I was instantly able to add it to my live rolls.

    Sawyer

    Robin V

  • It was great to see some great moves form an interesting system to attack and sweep from one of the worst positions to be in definitely helped on the mats right away.

Weird Submission From Weird Positions | Jiu-Jitsu X

Learn to attack your opponent in the most unusual ways from the most unexpected of positions.

  • Submissions from the Guard

  • Submissions from the Back

  • Submissions from the Bottom of Side Control

  • Submission defenses

  • Very nuanced approach, just how I like it. I love how there are layers to the approach to allow for contingencies as it's near inevitable that you'll get stuck in less than favorable situations. I highly recommend this instructional to any true jiujutsu artist

    Joshua Lee

  • Every technique I’ve watched has been a position I’ve found myself in at some point with no where to go. Tons of options and plan B’s. Tyler is known for his buggy choke. And it doesn’t disappoint. I’m primarily a gi guy. But most of this can translate.

    Graham Cool

  • Some great movements here. While I am a bigger guy and some of this is tough for me a lot of these techniques I can modify and do myself. Definitely worth checking out.
