Our Coaches

  • Chris Burns | 2nd Degree Black Belt

Invisible Jiu-Jitsu is a term coined by Chris’ teacher, Master Rickson Gracie, to describe his unique approach and deep understanding of this art. Invisible Jiu-Jitsu focuses on the subtleties of connection, weight distribution and timing and these invisible concepts are either difficult or impossible to see and must be felt to be fully understood.

  • Sean Applegate | Black Belt

As a pioneer of the Leg Lock movement from the 2010s, Sean is a highly accomplished competitor and has coached students into the top 10 rankings for both ADCC and FloGrappling. His philosophy on coaching is to help athletes learn easily applicable grappling skills in a short and stress-free time frame.

  • Tum Energia | Black Belt

A good coach looks at the individual, not the technique by itself, as a starting point and calibrates from there. My passion for Jiu-Jitsu and my knowledge as a teacher are best put to use when I can understand the problem at hand. What are YOUR goals, struggles or questions. From there it is my job to guide you.

  • Chad Keel | Black Belt

Chad focuses on strategic learning over technique acquisition. His approach is to ensure that learners not only master the skills but also grasp when, where, and why to use them. This holistic method fosters adaptable, thinking practitioners who can navigate complex situations effectively rather than merely executing skills in isolation.

  • Felipe Simplico | 1st Degree Black Belt

Professor Felipe’s teaching philosophy includes teaching students the mechanics of the movements so they don’t focus much on steps but on the mechanics itself and will help them understand that they can do the same movement from a lot of different positions. He loves to work on specific positions, on attacking points and defence points. And of course hard work, with hard work you can achieve anything.

  • Randy Sheets | Black Belt

This is my life’s passion. I have analysed the learning process and created my own unique teaching method which quickly gets newcomers up to a competitive level within weeks not months. “Advanced” BJJ is simply the basics with extra steps. Take the time to master the major positions, and the advanced ones come easy. The fastest way to learn is to drill as slowly as possible, with lots of situational training!

  • Roger Costa | 4th Degree Black Belt

Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Roger has been training BJJ for over 34 years. As a coach he has worked training with high level BJJ athletes, UFC and Bellator fighters. Rogers coaching philosophy is mutual help through the BJJ lifestyle. Whether you are a pro athlete or just someone who is trying to face everyday life challenges, a strong group can help each other achieve their goals.

  • Adam Carle | Black Belt

As a coach, I am deeply invested in the growth and well-being of my students. I strive to create a supportive and inclusive training environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. Whether they're beginners taking their first steps on the mats or seasoned practitioners striving for mastery, each student is met with personalised attention tailored to their unique goals.

  • Tyler Vankill | Brown Belt

Tyler’s approach to Jiu-Jitsu is simple. It doesn't matter how fast you can do it, what matters is how fast you can do it effectively. The coolest looking house will fall down with a poor foundation. He believes that with the right foundation of fundamental techniques you can be dangerous in both offense and defense and can flourish in the True Flow of Jiujitsu. Bad positions will happen, but with the right mindset and developed skills you can be just as dangerous as when you're "winning".

  • Joao Marco | Black Belt

Professor Marco is an exciting BJJ practitioner with a deep understanding of the modern game, training under the legendary Ze Radiola. Marco’s philosophy is focused on the most efficient ways to play jiu-jitsu, adjusting techniques for each body type and physical ability.

  • Nader Tannir | Black Belt

Nader’s coaching philosophy starts with creating a positive and conducive learning environment. He believes this encourages students and athletes to be 100% immersed in Jiu-Jitsu and allows them to give it their all.
