Privacy Policy
Effective date: as per original policy
At The BJJ Project, accessible from thebjjproject.com, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by The BJJ Project and how we use it.
If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us at info@thebjjproject.com.
Information We Collect
When you register for the BJJ Journey Score, purchase a course, or subscribe to our communications, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, email address, and training details you choose to share (belt rank, gym, training history).
When you browse our site, we also automatically receive your computer's internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system.
Email marketing: with your permission, we may send you emails about our content, new courses and other updates.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: provide and improve the BJJ Journey Score and our courses; personalise your results and recommendations; send communications you have opted into; and analyse aggregate, anonymised trends in the data to improve our content.
Consent
When you provide us with personal information, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only. If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at info@thebjjproject.com.
Third-Party Services
Our store and courses are hosted on third-party platforms that provide us with the online e-commerce and course delivery platform. Your data is stored through their data storage, databases and applications, behind their firewalls. Payment processing is handled by our payment providers; we do not store your credit card details.
We also use Meta (Facebook) for advertising measurement via the Meta Pixel (see "Cookies & Tracking Technologies" below), and analytics tools to understand aggregate site usage.
In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for a few purposes:
- Essential cookies keep the site working — maintaining your session and remembering your cookie preferences.
- Analytics & advertising cookies help us understand how visitors use the site and measure the performance of our advertising. This includes Google Analytics (GA4), which sets cookies (such as
_ga) to measure page views and how the site is used, and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which sets cookies (such as_fbp) and shares limited event data — like page views, when you view a course, and when you complete the BJJ Journey Score — with Meta so we can measure and improve our ads. We also use first-party cookies to attribute how visitors arrived at our site.
When you first visit, we show a cookie notice. You can decline analytics and advertising cookies there, which stops Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and related tracking from running. You can also disable or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Declining does not affect your ability to use the site.
To control how Meta uses data for advertising, see your Facebook Ad Preferences and Meta's own data policy.
Security
To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.
Age of Consent
By using this site, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website.
